Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Car Crash

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos confirmed on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The sports star had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.

“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.

Honoring the Deceased

Those who lost their lives were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”

The news of his discharge follows the sports world offered sympathy for the star in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
