This location has been described as an "environmental catastrophe".
Correspondent inspected the scene and reported the mound appeared to be "20ft high at least".

Fly-tippers have deposited a massive amount of waste in a rural area in Oxfordshire.

The "ecological disaster unfolding in public view" is around 150m (490ft) in length and 6m (20ft) high.

The massive mound has appeared in a plot of land adjacent to the River Cherwell close to Kidlington.

A local MP brought up the situation in parliament, saying it was "posing risk of an environmental disaster".

An environmental charity stated the unlawful garbage pile was formed approximately a recently by an illegal operation.

"This constitutes an environmental crisis unfolding in full view.

"Each day that passes increases the risk of toxic run-off getting into the waterways, contaminating wildlife and threatening the condition of the complete river basin.

"The Environment Agency must take action now, not in the distant future, which is their standard reaction time."

A restriction order had been put in place by the regulatory body.

It is challenging to distinguish any particular bits of rubbish as it seems to have been shredded with earth blended.

A portion of the garbage from the peak of the heap has fallen and is now merely five metres from the river.

The River Cherwell is a branch of the River Thames, which signifies it flows through Oxford before meeting the Thames.

The official requested the government for support to eliminate the unauthorized dump before it caused a inferno or was washed away into the river system.

Speaking to elected representatives on Thursday, he stated: "Lawbreakers have dumped a mountain of illegal plastic waste... totaling substantial weight, in my district on a floodplain next to the River Cherwell.

"Stream volumes are increasing and thermal imaging indicate that the waste is also increasing in temperature, increasing the danger of blaze.

"Environmental authorities said it has inadequate resources for compliance, that the projected price of clearance is higher than the complete yearly allocation of the regional government."

Environment minister commented the government had taken over a struggling disposal business that had resulted in an "widespread problem of unauthorized fly-tipping".

She informed parliament members the organization had implemented a access ban to stop further admission to the site.

In a statement, the authority confirmed it was investigating the matter and requested for evidence.

It stated: "We share the citizens' anger about situations like this, which is why we intervene against those culpable for illegal dumping."

A recently published report determined efforts to address significant illegal dumping have been "extremely neglected" notwithstanding the situation becoming more extensive and more advanced.

A parliamentary committee suggested an independent "root and branch" examination into how "widespread" illegal dumping is tackled.
