Toronto Blue Jays Claim World Series Matchup Against Los Angeles Dodgers
Springer contributed to the Astros securing the World Series in 2017.
Toronto's Blue Jays earned a spot in their maiden World Series following 1993 by beating the Seattle Mariners in the final game seven of the American League Championship Series.
Trailing three runs to one, Springer smashed a three-run blast in the seventh inning, propelling the Toronto squad in the majors to a four games to three win in the best-of-seven series. Next up are the defending champions, the team that is the reigning title, in the forthcoming World Series.
"It's incredible for everyone here, Toronto, Canada," Springer stated, a star of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."
George Springer has now slugged 23 post-season home runs, ranking him third all-time after Manny Ramirez (29) and Altuve (27).
"It's hard to imagine another person in the world that I'd choose in that situation besides him with his playoff prowess," remarked Schneider.
Seattle, after leading the early in the series, are still the one club that has never reached in a championship series.
Wilson stated "there's no question that it hurts" after his side's defeat at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but praised their work in the campaign.
"They're an exceptional squad. It's a shame that we finished on the unsuccessful side of the series," he added.
Toronto won the World Series on both previous visits in 1992 and '93, and are set to host the Dodgers in game one on Friday.
