Trump Invites Loved Ones of Injured Military Soldiers to White House
Former President Trump announced on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the White House.
He mentioned that he contacted her family and they were “heartbroken”.
Information on the Tragic Event
Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a violent incident on Wednesday in DC.
Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in grave state.
Memorials across West Virginia have been held in their remembrance.
Presidential Offer
The commander-in-chief said he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both soldiers of the state National Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump informed the press. “And in the same way with him, whether he recovers or not.”
Community Reaction
Attendees assembled over the past few days at a local school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.
Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the military unit as part of Trump’s national effort to assist public safety in the capital.
Remembering the Soldier
“She was the kind of student that educators hoped for. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that lifted people around her,” Hankins, the leader of her former high school, informed the Associated Press. “She was caring, considerate and always willing to help others.”
Memorial plans for Sarah are still being arranged.
Judicial Actions and Policy Changes
Authorities have indicted a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of first-degree murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.
The incident prompted the administration to suspend asylum applications and cease issuing visas to holders of travel documents.
Condition of Andrew Wolfe
The airman, a native of Martinsburg, started his military career in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, according to the Associated Press.
He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey stated on television.
Attorney general Pam Bondi told Fox News Sunday that she planned to meet with his relatives.
Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom
Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, working as a MP with honor, as stated by the military.
“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had courage,” he informed the gathering at the vigil. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
